If you want to use one HPLC packing for both analytical and preparative
(dynamic axial compression) separations,
Kromasil is highly recommended.
It is regarded by many to be the only material to use for preparative
HPLC separations that utilize "dynamic axial compression" Columns, because
it has the mechanical strength to give longer separation lifetimes and to
withstand a greater number of Column repacks. It is also very chemically
stable, giving long separation lifetimes under both acidic mobile phase
and alkaline washing conditions.
Kromasil is a good workhorse
for general pharmaceutical, peptide, and small protein separations. It is
available in Columns packed with 3.5, 5, 7, 10, 13, and 16µm spherical
particles.
